BRAIDED STEEL CABLE SCULPTURE
BRAIDING DREAMS SERIES
My father was an architect. He would pick me up after school and sometimes (almost always) accompany him to the construction project he was doing as a “stopover” before coming home for lunch. we chatted about the construction, the realization, the materials, the spaces, the form. Architecture and sculpture are a divertissement of volumes. They have in common the materials they use: wood, wire, stone, cement, metal. The base and structure in both disciplines is the soul where the body takes shape. After eating, the table was to play while we drew. The game consisted of making a drawing in a single stroke, without taking the pencil off the paper: human figure, objects, kitchen utensils. The constant search for new materials in the realization and materialization of my work led me to approach the wire. It's like drawing in the air in a single line. It reminds me of that time. Using construction materials in the new series "braiding dreams" is to crystallize those exercises made up of playing with the old.

It is a section on sculptures to hang that refers to magical beings, earthly and ethereal deities that live in the collective imagination. A mitago is the origin of the myth. The central character. The foundations of the legend. "Gaia" is a reference to our mother earth. To that being called nature. And as in “naturalis” it is a tribute to those beings who resist, insist and persist.
